New Delhi:

Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal today expressed deep concern over the deteriorating condition of Kashmiri Pandits. He said, “Kashmiri Pandits are being killed one by one; Central government doing nothing for Kashmiri Pandits; The Center is requested to rehabilitate them safely at all costs. 16 Kashmiri Pandits including government official Rahul Bhatt have been brutally murdered. Kashmiri Pandits are very upset right now; They only want protection from terrorists from the Centre. Kashmir is watching a flashback to the 90s; Innocent Kashmiri Pandits have no safe haven now. If Kashmiri Pandits try to raise their voice against the killings of their loved ones, brutal action is taken to suppress their voice. The entire country needs to work together for the rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits in the Valley; We stand ready to do whatever we can to help the cause.”

Chief Minister Shri Arvind Kejriwal said, “Kashmiri Pandits are extremely distressed today. There is only one demand from his government – security for protection from local terrorists. Kashmiri Pandits had gathered the courage to go back to live in Kashmir, but they are facing the same condition that happened to Kashmiri Pandits in the 90s. Each one of them is being targeted, dragged from their homes and offices and brutally murdered. It is totally inhuman and against the principles of basic humanity, against the values of our nation. Despite the seriousness of the situation, no official is coming forward to stop this violence. When Kashmiri Pandits – our poor brothers and sisters – raise their voice against these atrocities, they are locked up in their colonies to stop their agitation. They are suppressed when they experience a loved one being violently killed before their very eyes and try to express their sadness and their anger against the killers. What kind of justice is this? Be it government official Rahul Bhatt, Srinagar-based chemist Makhan Lal Bindu, or school teacher Rajni Bala – just like them, a total of 16 Kashmiri Pandits have been killed by terrorists this year.

He further said, “All the innocent lives we lost were an integral part of the Kashmiri community. The general public in Kashmir only prays for the united and peaceful co-existence of all religions in the state. However, terrorist forces see unity as the biggest threat to their agenda. Today, Kashmiri Pandits aspire to return to their hometowns, their native land in Kashmir. Where else will they go? Whenever a person leaves his homeland for some foreign city or country, there can be no progress and facilities of loss of one’s home, his soil. One has immense love and affection for one’s native land, and it can never be changed. The current situation has forced Kashmiri Pandits to negotiate with truck drivers in the Valley to survive in Jammu or any other state outside Kashmir. The same dreadful period of communal killings since the 1990s is again raising its head. This is the second time in their lives that Kashmiri Pandits are being forced to flee their homes to survive – all because the state is unable to ensure basic security for them.

Mr. Arvind Kejriwal concluded, “I demand that innocent Kashmiri Pandits be given adequate protection so that they do not feel compelled to leave their motherland. Their voice should not be curtailed, as Kashmir is their birthplace, and the land on which But where they were born, they have the right to make a safe life. My humble request to the central government is to work towards providing a safe shelter to Kashmiri Pandits in their motherland – Working in collaboration with all concerned authorities Delhi Government is ready to make every possible contribution to ensure peaceful life in the birthplace of Kashmiri Pandits.
